A Squirrel

I see a squirrel in the tree above.
He is chattering to himself.
He is gathering nuts for his winter store.
The end.

Very Near to My Home

There is a little frog. I know where its home is:

In the meadow, hop. In the meadow, hop.

It hops and hops and hops all the day long.

There is a little bird nest that I know,

Very near to my home.

In a tree by the river

The river is very near to my home.

Little Frog II

Little frog little frog, you once were a tadpole,

Swimming in the pond, swimming in the pond, swimming in the pond.

Not long ago, you were swimming in the pond as a teeny little tadpole,

And on before that you were a little egg.

Little frog, little frog, and on before that, you were nothing.

Little Lizard

Little lizard, little lizard, where are you off to?

To the little lizard town, I heard the lizard say.

But oh, dear lizard dear, where is your little home?

In the big oak yonder. Seven little egsies, there they lie upon the floor of the little hollow in the tree.

It’s a safe little nest, dear lizard, dear,

Safe little nest, dear, safe little nest dear,

I will watch over the young till you come back from the little lizard village,

And sometimes I’ll visit you in evening so.

The Rooster

In a little barn house there is a little brood of chickens.

There are seven chicks and seven little mothers, and one big cock.

He is black, he is big, he is fierce.

He protects the little brood as much as he can.

The Stickleback

In the blue sea, in the blue sea

There is a little fish swimming, a bright little fish, a stickleback now.

It made a nest, found a mate, played with the mate,

The mate laid some eggs and went away.

And the little fry fish came out.

The brave stickleback, the brave,

He did not let a single one get get killed.

Not a single one, not a single one.

He made a little spot in the ground and kept them there until there were big.

But even when they had grown their thorns and could swim bravely,

He still swam after them to make sure they were safe enough.

Little Frog

(dictated by Axa)

Little frog, little frog, where is your little home?
Where is your little home in the lake, little swimming froggy?
Never go away. I will always visit you if you will tell me where your little frog nest is.

In the reeds so snug and tight, there are ten little eggs, and there they are.
I will come and tell you, dear, when the eggs are hatched.
So dear, keep always watch every day by the lake.

And I will come, I will come and tell you when the little frog babies are hatched.
When the little tadpoles are abroad you may catch two.
But only now, keep them in a real pond, that they may not see each other.
