And he was a happy little fellow.
He couldn't remember when he was nothing.
He could not remember when he was an egg.
And he could not remember when he was swimming,
because he was a big frog now.
He couldn't remember hopping in the meadow,
because he was big now.
Now, he was in a pet store!

Once a little girl saw a baby grasshopper. It was the same kind as the one with no hopper legs. But this one did have hopper legs.
There were lots of other grasshoppers.

I saw many little creatures. I knew they were not the flies, because I saw them moving.
And then I knew that they were spiders. Baby spiders. If they had not been baby spiders, they would have been teeny spiders. But I could see that they were babies because they were in the same web. The spider had a very good place, because it was in a rose bush, and there were some leaves that covered it, so you could not see it was a web unless you looked under it. The babies were in a snug little place with some of the flies the spider had caught. I saw him run down to one of the flies in his web, but then he ran back again. He could not have been scared, because it was a fly he went down to. Maybe he ran back because his babies wanted something.

There is a little frog. I know where its home is:
In the meadow, hop. In the meadow, hop.
It hops and hops and hops all the day long.
There is a little bird nest that I know,
Very near to my home.
In a tree by the river
The river is very near to my home.

Little frog little frog, you once were a tadpole,
Swimming in the pond, swimming in the pond, swimming in the pond.
Not long ago, you were swimming in the pond as a teeny little tadpole,
And on before that you were a little egg.
Little frog, little frog, and on before that, you were nothing.

Little lizard, little lizard, where are you off to?
To the little lizard town, I heard the lizard say.
But oh, dear lizard dear, where is your little home?
In the big oak yonder. Seven little egsies, there they lie upon the floor of the little hollow in the tree.
It’s a safe little nest, dear lizard, dear,
Safe little nest, dear, safe little nest dear,
I will watch over the young till you come back from the little lizard village,
And sometimes I’ll visit you in evening so.

In the blue sea, in the blue sea
There is a little fish swimming, a bright little fish, a stickleback now.
It made a nest, found a mate, played with the mate,
The mate laid some eggs and went away.
And the little fry fish came out.
The brave stickleback, the brave,
He did not let a single one get get killed.
Not a single one, not a single one.
He made a little spot in the ground and kept them there until there were big.
But even when they had grown their thorns and could swim bravely,
He still swam after them to make sure they were safe enough.
